Covid-19 Updates, Policies, and Proceedures

Thanks to our staff, community, and participants, we have another successful summer behind us!
For now, we are planning to run 2021 programs just as we did last year: individually scheduling adult sailing lessons from May through September.

High School

Registration will open in February, 2021.
The SailMaine staff put in a ton of effort to hold an educational and productive online program at the beginning of the pandemic, and an in person season in fall of 2020. We compiled live video sessions from some really talented and experienced members of the sailing community, including fitness trainers, college coaches, and professional sailors like Dave Perry and Jamie Gale.

We are so excited that sailing was able to happen this fall, with added safety policies and procedures that many of our sailors were already familiar with after this summer.

For highlights on this season’s virtual challenges, fitness montages and Senior recognitions, check out our instagram page: @Sail_Maine

Major props to our high school coaches and sailors for maintaining positive attitudes and focus!

Adult Lessons & Charter

Adult Registration will open in March, 2021.
We will continue scheduling lessons and charters on an individual basis through September. All participants can expect to be required to wear face covers while at SailMaine—both adults and juniors. SailMaine still can provide PFDs, but if you have your own it is recommended that you bring it.

Please make sure to fill out our waivers before arriving.

Support Our Community

People’s Emergency Fund:
This is a people’s emergency fund to raise money for our most vulnerable people and communities. The funds will be used to purchase basic survival goods (food, medicine, etc) and distribute those goods and money during the COVID-19 crisis to people *most* marginalized in this crisis, with the *least* access to other forms of aid.

Portland Public Schools Food Fund:
Please Give! The families of many Portland Public Schools students are food insecure, and those students depend on daily school meals to get enough to eat. Our food insecure PPS families also can’t afford to stock up on food during this pandemic the way other more-advantaged families can. Donating to the PPS Food Fund can help get these families through this crisis.

The PPS Food Fund is a collaboration by the Foundation for PPS and Food Fuels Learning (FFL) to help ensure food security for PPS students and is made possible through generous donations by the community.

GREATER PORTLAND COVID-19 COMMUNITY
RELIEF FUND:
On March 20, 2020, United Way of Greater Portland launched the Greater Portland COVID-19 Community Relief Fund to support our most vulnerable neighbors. This includes those currently or those at risk of becoming homeless and those who could suffer devastating financial and health impacts due to the Coronavirus.
