Classes and Schedule
2007 Schedule
Session I: June 18 – July 6 (no class July 4)
Session II: July 9 – July 27
Session III: July 30 – Aug 17
During all three sessions we will offer the following classes:
Frosty I : M-F 9am-12pm
For beginning sailors ages 9 to 10, stressing basic sailing skills, confidence building, and water safety.
Frosty II : M-F 1pm-4pm
In this intermediate level follow-up to Frosty I, 9 and 10-year-olds develop and refine existing sailing skills. Includes an introduction to racing.
Optimist I : M-F 9am-12pm
For beginning sailors ages 11 to 12.
Optimist II : M-F 1pm-4pm
An intermediate course for sailors 11 to 12 years old who have completed Optimist AM or a similar beginner course. This successor to Opti AM will focus on developing sailing skills and an introduction to racing.
Frosties and Optimists are single-handed boats
420 I : M-F 9am-12pm
Beginner course for sailors 13 to 18 stressing basic sailing skills, confidence building, and water safety. Sailors must weigh 100 pounds or more for all 420 courses.
420 II : M-F 1pm-4pm
An advanced 420 course designed for sailors who have successfully demonstrated the skills necessary to participate in more advanced sailing including racing.
420s are double-handed boats.
Yngling I : M-F 9am-12pm
A more advanced course for sailors 13 to 18 up who have completed 420 II or the equivalent and wish to learn to sail keelboats. This class does not emphasize racing; includes an introduction to spinnakers.
Yngling II : M-F 1pm-4pm
Advanced course in keelboats fro sailors who have completed Yngling I, including more work with spinnakers and an expeditioning element.
Ynglings are triple-handed boats.
420 Race Team : M-F 1pm-4pm
For 420 II sailors and above, by invitation. |
