From Coach Jim Marchant:
Hello all,
Barnstable proved to be a good learning experience for the Chevrus Team. Racing against two skilled and experienced Team Race fleets. Chevurus sailors learn exactly how important communication is in the fleet race environment. At lunch time team racing fundamentals were stressed. Although the results do not suggest, we had three really close races. Vast improvement was noted when the racers faced the second team. In a fluky light northerly breeze that ranged from 5-10 knots the Chevrus sailors 'held their own'. People should note that we will do more team race practices over the next two weeks. Congrats to the sailors for not getting discouraged and realizing that this is a great learning experience. Thanks go out to Katti and Amelie for having the patience in teaching their teammates a 'little something 'about team racing. Appreciation to the parents and Patrick for driving the 'Stag wagon' to Hyannis. I had a good time. |
