Portsmouth Abbey Team Race

Regatta summary and results

On Saturday, SMHS crushed the Portsmouth Abbey Team 2 in Bristol, Rhode Island.  SMHS won 7 out of 10 races. The action started with SMHS winning the first and second races by finishing 1, 2, and 3.   The Team went on to win the first four races.  The results are listed below.  The weather was mostly cloudy with temps in the low 50s F.  The wind was north at about 5 knots at the start and built to about 12 knots by the end of the day.  The Team started better, had faster boat speed, and better boat handling than PA.  When behind, the Team consistently rolled over PA on the downwind leg and chose the favored side on the last beat.  At the leeward mark, PA came in close and rounded wide. SMHS did the opposite and passed to the inside to gain the windward advantage.  PA focused on tactics but was unable to execute their tactical traps because SMHS maneuvered around them.  Congratulations!
