High School Sailing Assistant Coach

Jim Marchant enters his second season at Sail Maine serving as the Cheverus high school sailing coach. After years of ‘big boat’ racing
he finds himself back to his roots: dinghy racing. “Coaching sailors in the 420’s has been rewarding and I am having a lot of fun.”
In the past Jim has enjoyed success as a competitor. From J-24s, Melges 24’s, Ultimate 30’s, Mumm 30’s, Farr 40’s, IOR 50’s and 90 ft Maxiboats. He has also competed at an International level and has numerous National and World Championships ‘under his belt’.
Marchant's other sailing successes include running Hood Sailmakers of Maine, rigger for America’s Cup 1995 and is currently involved with his
new rigging business: Port Rigging Co. He is a nationally certified Paramedic.
