Cheverus High School formed an ISSA team in the fall of 2004. The team has remained strong since then, winning or placing as a team, and individually, at a wide assortment of regional and national competitions. The Stags won 2007's Downeast Fleet Racing Championship regatta, with team members winning the Maine Schools’ Sailing Association Trophy as the most outstanding sailors at the regatta. Cheverus' team was ably represented at the 2007 Single handed High School Nationals by Katii Gullick sailing in the Laser Radial Rig division.
