Schedules and Fees

SCHEDULE:
Courses are offered at many different times during the week. There are two different weekday course options, and three different times on weekends.
Weekday Courses:
Weekdays from 4:30 to 7:30 PM.
These courses are one week, Monday to Friday courses--they meet for three hours a day, every day for one week. Courses are offered for the whole season, May 19 through the end of September. Simply indicate on our registration form the date of the start of the course (the Monday of the week you wish to attend).
Weekdays from 4:30 to 7:30 PM. This course meets one weekday each week for five consecutive weeks. For example, you could choose to sail on Tuesday evenings from June 17 to July 15. This option is designed for people who cannot commit to every evening for an entire week, but can get free one evening a week. Five different courses start the week of May 19 and finish the week of June 16. Additional courses start the weeks of June 23, July 28, and September 1.
**All weekday classes which start the week of September 1 or later will meet from 3:00 to 6:00 PM because of earlier sunsets in September.**
**For all classes: classes which are undersubscribed may be rescheduled.**
Weekend Courses:
Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM. This course meets every Saturday morning for five consecutive weeks. Courses start May 24, June 28, August 2 and September 6.
Saturdays from 2 to 5 PM. This course meets every Saturday afternoon for five consecutive weeks. Courses start May 24, June 28, August 2 and September 6.
Sundays from 2 to 5 PM. This course meets every Sunday afternoon for five consecutive weeks. Courses start May 25, June 29, August 3 and September 7.
**For all classes: classes which are undersubscribed may be rescheduled.**
We can also arrange an Intensive Weekend course, with three hours of sailing on a Friday night, six hours on Saturday and six hours on Sunday. The schedule for these courses is dependent on the participants and instructor availability. Send email to sailmail AT sailmaine DOT org to schedule an intensive weekend.
Private Lessons:
We also offer Private Lessons for those who cannot commit to an entire 15-hour course, would like additional practice or would like to work on specific skills not covered in our basic courses, like racing. The curriculum for a private lesson is decided by the participants, and you can schedule one for just yourself, or share costs with up to three other people (four total). Private lessons are usually held weekday afternoons or evenings, but the schedule time is up to the participants ( subject to boat and instructor availability).
Fees:
Each course costs $375.00 per person; USM faculty and staff receive a 20% discount (net $300.00). There is a two person enrollment minimum for each class.
Private lessons are available for $75 per hour; there is a two hour minimum.
For more information or to reserve a spot in this program, please contact us at (207) 650-7878 or sailmail AT sailmaine DOT org.
Refunds/Cancellations:
All registrations are subject to our general Refund Policy (below), with the following important exception:
In Adult classes, if a cancellation/request for refund is received less than three (3) weeks before the start of a course and would result in the cancellation of that course due to low numbers, no refund will be granted if the remaining course participants are unable to reschedule. If a new schedule can be worked out for the remaining participants, a refund will be granted based on the policy below.
Refund/Cancellation Policy
A full refund will be granted if request is made more than three (3) weeks prior to the program start date.
A 75% refund will be granted if request is made less than three (3) weeks prior to the program start date but more than one (1) week before the program start date.
A 50% refund will be granted if request is made less than one (1) week prior to the program start date but before the program start date.
No refunds will be granted if the program has already started, except in the case of significant extenuating circumstances (such as a documented medical condition). |
