ABOUT FRANK PIZZO: Frank is the Head Coach of the Bowdoin College Sailing Team. He is the former Program Director at Ida Lewis Yacht Club and the current Head Sailing Instructor at Larchmont Yacht Club in New York. Frank was a four-year varsity sailor for Bowdoin and was voted three time Most Valuable Skipper. He is still an active team racer and still competes in the competitive New England Team Race circuit in Vanguard 15s.

Team Racing is Frank's favorite part of the sport to coach. A team must be fast enough in order to play the game and once teams are evenly matched speed wise, it is a then a matter of recognizing and executing the proper play. At Bowdoin, we spend a lot of time with the team breaking down each leg of the course and extensively discuss scenarios that take place. The team often discusses how fleet racing applies to team race situations so sailors can see the bigger picture.
