2009 John Ford Regatta

SailMaine's annual John Ford Regatta SailMaine's annual John Ford Regatta took place Thursday, August 13, 2009. The regatta featured sailing in our Frosty class boats for novice (green fleet) sailors are ages eight to thirteen.
The breeze was down to 1 or 2 knots as racing began on Thursday evening around 6:00pm. Family and spectators gathered on SailMaine property while a Race Committee made up of SailMaine’s summer
instructors blew whistles for three separate starts.
Racing was a bit slow at first, which left plenty of time for sailors to wave to their parents and make sure their boats were pointed high. Fun was had by
all as each boat crossed the finish line of the last race and de-rigged to the smell of a cook out at the top of the ramp. Friends and supporters of the racers barbequed until the sun set on SailMaine grounds. Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting our youngest sailors as they jump start their racing careers!
