Atlantic Coast Challenge 2011
SailMaine May 21-22, 2011
In conditions ranging from completely still and foggy to nearly apocalyptic, the Atlantic Coast Challenge Regatta was a great success. 10 High School teams from MISSA, MASSA and NESSA, racing digital N courses, on scenic Casco Bay, gave it their all and appeared to enjoy themselves.
The brand new North/Laser Performance sails might have helped! At the end of 66 races, Portsmouth Abbey was crowned our 2011 Champion.
This regatta would not have been possible with out the generosity and dedication of the many volunteers and coaches. Many thanks to PRO Andrew Stern and umpires, Betsy Altman (Chief Umpire), Andrew Nugnes, Alexa Schuler, Frank Pizzo, Karen Tennenbaum, and Ron Hopkins. SailMaine was proud to host this excellent event with support from Cheverus and Falmouth Sailing Team's and many other volunteers that helped make this possible.
