Portland High School Bulldog Classic
April 11, 2009 -PHS/SailMaine Casco Bay Community Boating Center
Though cold and overcast, Saturday afternoon proved to be a great day for team racing. The wind was steady at 10-12 knots for most of the day, and sailors stayed warm by hiking hard though the 39 degree water was no doubt spraying up. Despite a no-show team and a difficult protest scenario, Portland HS, Southern Maine HS, and Cape Elizabeth HS sailed well, had fun and enjoyed a great barbeque after racing ended around 2:30.
Race Committee members Gerry, Elissa, Steve, and Laura (and her Dad, Richard) hung tough throughout the day and racing went off without a hitch. And a HUGE THANK YOU goes out to the Portland HS parents for putting on a TERRIFIC barbeque for all the tired, hungry and cranky sailors and coaches. Thanks so much for supporting our teams!
