How to get here from there
SailMaine's waterfront site is located on the Eastern Prom at 58 Fore Street in Portland, Maine. For some ideas on where to stay while visiting, please click here.
Directions to SailMaine:
From Interstate 295:
Take exit 7 (Franklin Street). Go all the way to the end and take a left onto Commercial Street in front of the ferry terminal parking garage. Proceed to the stop sign at India Street and continue straight across on the newly constructed extension of Commercial Street (Thames Street). Continue past the Ocean Gateway terminal to the right all the way to the end of the street, then dogleg right and left over the RR tracks and enter the lot on the water. Proceed to far end of lot to Gate 5. SailMaine is through this gate. You can drop off or pick up sailors here.
SailMaine has limited parking available. Please do not park, or pick up and drop off sailors in the Portland Yacht Services parking lot. The empty lot adjacent to SailMaine (Gate 5) is also off limits to parking. Please use this lot for pick up and drop off only. Do not leave your car unattended. IF YOU PARK OUTSIDE THE SAILMAINE GATE YOU WILL BE TICKETED.
Where can you park? The Ocean Gate Parking Garage is available at the corner of India and Fore St. and is a short walking distance from SailMaine. We have a limited number of free parking spaces available in the unpaved (dirt) parking lot behind the Hamilton Marine building, (the large metal building you will see to your left). You may park in the row up against the concrete barriers and trees/ bushes dividing the parking lot from the Hamilton Marine lot (accessible from Fore Street). If you park closer to the RR tracks or out in the middle of the gravel lot you will be ticketed.
